So, What is machining wax and why would we want to make it? Machining wax is a mix of paraffin wax and soft plastic. it is used as a training tool on mills and CNC machine.
By itself, paraffin wax will melt and deform when used on a mill, by adding the soft plastics to the mixture, it makes it durable enough to withstand the heat of the milling process, yet soft enough that it can be milled without any damage or wear to the milling bit.
This type of wax is also called jewelers wax and is used in the process of creating wax designs which are then used in a lost wax casting process.
Also this is a great way to use recycleable #2 and #4 plastics. we will be using a whole raft of 'single use' grocery bags and a few blocks of foam from computer packaging.
